Plaque at Hampstead home of 'forgotten' feminist and friend of Virginia Woolf
Briefly

Margaret Llewelyn Davies, a prominent social reformer and leader in the British co-operative movement, is being honored with a plaque outside her former home. Her great-niece and supporters believe her vital contributions to women's rights and universal suffrage have been overlooked in history. The commemoration, organized by The Heath and Hampstead Society and the Virginia Woolf Society, comes after a five-year effort to gain recognition for Davies, who was known to live with her partner Lilian Harris at Well Walk. Leonard Woolf remarked that her contributions would be more recognized if she were a man.
