Two Metropolitan police officers are facing misconduct proceedings after failing to act on reports of a woman in danger prior to Natalie Shotter's rape and murder in Southall Park. The Independent Office for Police Conduct overturned an earlier decision to dismiss the case, allowing the officers to face disciplinary hearings. Shotter's family has been vocal in seeking justice and found the IOPC's decision a positive step. Evidence suggests the officers inadequately responded to reports concerning Shotter's safety before her tragic death at the hands of a convicted rapist in 2024.
The family of Natalie Shotter have welcomed the decision by the IOPC as another step in the fight for justice after two Met police officers faced misconduct hearings.
IOPC director David Ford stated that after careful consideration of the evidence, it's concluded two Met police officers should face misconduct meetings for allegedly failing to safeguard Shotter.
