More than 250k seized in courier fraud crackdown

Over £250,000 in cash and numerous bank cards were seized, targeting a crime that predominantly affects the elderly, with 80% of victims over 65. One victim, Andrew Quicke, shared his harrowing experience of being duped by a caller impersonating a police officer. The investigation has revealed a suspected multi-million-pound organized crime network and led to multiple charges against suspects involved in these fraudulent activities.
According to the Met, 80% of victims are over the age of 65, making courier fraud a particularly devastating crime impacting our most vulnerable citizens.
Det Supt Kerry Wood stated, "It is a devastating crime which can deprive vulnerable people of their livelihoods, pensions and hard-earned savings."
