Man's body identified 10 years after he was hit by car yards from east London home
Briefly

After 10 years without an identified victim, Bryan Woolis's family finally received closure following his tragic death in a traffic collision in Walthamstow. Detective Nik Dodsworth from South Yorkshire Police took it upon himself to investigate the case, which had stumped authorities for years. Initially thought to be named Brian Wallace and presumed to have relatives in Sheffield, efforts to identify him were renewed in 2024 thanks to an appeal by a missing persons charity. Dodsworth's detective work, inclusive of thorough research and collaboration with the Metropolitan Police, led to successful identification of Woolis.

Despite the Mercedes driver going before the courts and receiving a suspended sentence, the case could not be closed because the victim had not been formally identified.
