Lorry trailers dumped 'for months' next to major Rainham road finally removed
Briefly

Residents in Rainham expressed relief at the removal of two abandoned HGV trailers on A1306 New Road, which had been left for months despite numerous complaints to the council. Colin Giles, a local resident, noted one trailer had remained since the previous year, while the other appeared around Christmas 2024. The local council had initially hesitated due to estimated removal costs. Councilor Jacqueline McArdle acknowledged the significant role of social media and community persistence in hastening the trailers' removal and emphasized the need for preventive measures against future fly-tipping.
Cllr Jacqueline McArdle stated that the trailers' removal is a "direct result" of widespread social media reporting, highlighting the importance of community advocacy.
Colin Giles expressed his frustration, saying, "I don't know why it should have taken this long to get this sorted out," pointing to the prolonged nature of the issue.
Residents reported the abandoned trailers on "several occasions" to the council but faced little action until public attention intensified.
Giles hopes the council will implement measures to prevent future fly-tipping incidents, showcasing community desire for improved local governance.
