Lewisham to have first Travellers site for 16 years in Catford
Briefly

Lewisham's planning committee approved three pitches for Travellers, the first in the borough in over 16 years. Located in Catford, the site will feature a static caravan, utility block, and parking for each pitch, as well as room for mobile caravans. The development aims to meet the long-standing needs of the Traveller community since a previous site closed in 2009. Plans include a new access road and assurance that trees removed will be replanted. While there were objections, no one opposed the proposal during the meeting.
Lewisham will have its first Travellers site for 16 years with the approval of three pitches adjacent to a railway line in Catford.
The site will consist of three pitches, each featuring a static caravan, utility block, and car parking space, along with space for a mobile caravan.
The new site is expected to address the long-standing need for local family pitches in Lewisham's Traveller community, which has been unserved since 2009.
Support for the proposal includes backing from local councillors, though there were objections, none of which were voiced at the planning meeting.
