Legal action over police front counter closure
"They're not doing a massive amount to keep Londoners safe compared to extra police officers patrolling neighbourhoods."
"When the facts change, I change my mind."
"This move strips our borough of vital, in-person access to policing leaving residents without direct access to support, advice or protection."
"short-sighted"
Plans will close the volunteer-led front desk at Pinner Police Station, leaving Harrow borough without in-person police counters. The Met is reducing London police front counters from 37 to 27, with two operating 24 hours and expected savings of about £7m. Harrow Council will issue a pre-action letter to begin legal proceedings against the mayor of London and the Met Police over the closure. The Met prioritises spending on fighting knife crime and neighbourhood policing over maintaining front counters and cites public consultation and crime-reporting data as justification.
