Three Metropolitan Police officers were honored with a London Police Bravery Award for their courageous response to a Samurai sword attack. The assailant, Marcus Arduini Monzo, killed 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin during a psychotic episode. PC Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield was severely injured while pursuing Monzo, who attacked her with a sword. Unarmed PC Cameron King intervened to protect her, risking his own life. Monzo was sentenced to life imprisonment. Other officers were also recognized for their bravery in separate incidents involving violent suspects.
