Funeral of drowning tragedy victim to take place in Cork
Briefly

Luke Hyde, 33, tragically drowned near St Mary's Church in Cork. His mother, Elizabeth Hyde, expressed intense sorrow and outrage after witnessing bystanders recording the incident instead of helping her son. After her frantic phone call to Luke's phone, she arrived to see crowds gathered rather than assisting. Elizabeth also lamented the loss of two sons in tragic circumstances, including Brian in 2019. Taoiseach Micheal Martin condemned the onlookers' behavior while expressing sympathy to the grieving family.
It was like a circus, watching my son drown, instead of trying to help him. When I got down, they were putting him into the ambulance and I saw the crowds, I didn't know what was going on.
What have people in the world come to? Morons. I don't even think there is a word to describe them. It will never leave me. I don't know how I'll ever forget it.
