Nittyo Bazaar Ltd in Ilford has been fined nearly £1,400 for improper waste storage, following complaints from the London Fire Brigade. The enforcement officer from Redbridge Council discovered significant amounts of commercial waste outside the shop, including cardboard and pallets, near a fire exit. After multiple fixed penalty notices went unpaid, the company was taken to Barkingside Magistrates Court, where it pleaded guilty to one charge regarding late payment. The council has stressed the responsibility of businesses in maintaining community cleanliness and environmental safety.
The shop's continued failure to store its commercial waste properly led to a series of unpaid fixed penalty notices.
Khayer Chowdhury emphasized, 'We all have a responsibility to keep our borough clean and tidy, and this includes businesses.'
