Tommy Reilly, a former Fianna Fáil councillor, faced an ethics inquiry by the Standards in Public Office Commission after being accused of multiple breaches of conduct. The allegations stem from his failure to declare a conflict of interest related to his sons’ interests in lands up for rezoning in Liscarton, Co Navan, between 2016 and 2017. Although Mr. Reilly withdrew from some meetings claiming a conflict, he is still accused of not adequately maintaining integrity and public interest standards. The inquiry follows the withdrawal of three other allegations against him at its start.
The allegations against Tommy Reilly include failing to declare a conflict of interest regarding lands being rezoned, which breaches the Local Government Act 2001.
Counsel for SIPO stated that Mr. Reilly's failure to disclose family interests in Liscarton lands constituted serious breaches of integrity and conduct expected from public representatives.
