Drag queen: 'I'll be bringing joy on marathon day'
"My grandma was my biggest cheerleader to get to do this for her and to raise awareness and to help find a cure is just the most incredible feeling."
"Every time you see them it's like you're losing a part of them again and again."
"I'm very much like Tinkerbell, I like the applause or I'm going to die and so the marathon is the best day for me because it's just people."
Kitty Scott-Claus, a drag queen, will run the London Marathon on April 26 to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK after her grandmother's death from an Alzheimer's-related illness. She plans to wear a full costume and wig, but no heels. Kitty aims to honor her grandmother, Beryl, who supported her self-expression. Losing Beryl to Alzheimer's was painful, as it involved witnessing her gradual decline. Kitty previously ran the marathon in memory of The Vivienne and has supported various charities.
