Danny Boyle has definitively ruled out any return to the James Bond franchise, even after Amazon took creative control from producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Boyle, who left Bond’s 25th film in 2018 due to creative differences, expressed regret over not being able to make the film with his excellent script, which featured a Russian antagonist and Bond's death. Despite the changes in franchise management, Boyle remains firm that 'that ship has sailed.'
Boyle signed on to the 25th Bond movie in 2018 and teamed with Hodge, his longtime collaborator who wrote the scripts for Boyle's feature debut "Shallow Grave," "The Beach," and both "Trainspotting" movies.
In February, Amazon MGM Studios announced that it had taken creative control of the Bond franchise with Broccoli and Wilson stepping aside.
