Council makes 300,000 in driver fines in 17 days
Briefly

In just 17 days, Brent Council raised over £300,000 from drivers who ignored roadwork restrictions on Wembley High Road. A Freedom of Information request revealed that 5,701 penalty charge notices were issued due to violations of no-entry signage meant for motorists. The council was surprised at the number of violations despite extensive warnings, including letters to residents and billboard ads. The revenue generated from penalties is earmarked for funding Freedom Passes, facilitating free public transport in London.

During the 17-day period in question, Brent Council generated 313,555 in revenue from PCNs, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
