Limerick County Council has paid €36.03m to landowners under a compulsory purchase order for lands along a new road scheme that includes the €150m Adare bypass. The bypass is progressing steadily and remains on schedule for completion in June 2027 ahead of the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in September 2027. The project involves 7km of new motorway between the Adare and Croagh junctions as part of a larger €450m, 35km Foynes to Limerick road scheme. Almost 1,000 acres were acquired, affecting up to 200 landholdings, including 105 farms. An Coimisiún Pleanála approved the overall road in August 2022, with work on the bypass starting in January 2025. The council has refused to provide further payment details, including how many landowners received payments and the total acreage purchased.
