A LEGO Ideas build celebrates Freddie Mercury’s memorable Live Aid performance with a 1,986 brick poster featuring a minifigure of Mercury playing Bohemian Rhapsody. Created by Takesz, this piece honors both the musician and his cultural influence. The artwork features Mercury in his yellow military jacket from the 1986 Magic Tour, designed to create a dynamic relief effect on the wall. The unique structure blends 2D and 3D elements, making it an ideal tribute for fans as it commemorates critical milestones in music history.
The Wembley show turns 40 next year. Bohemian Rhapsody was released exactly 50 years ago. The timing is Magic," says LEGO builder Takesz, who put this MOC (My Own Creation) together as an ode to the musician with an impressive four-octave vocal range.
Queen's music shaped Takesz's life, but also had a massive influence on culture as we know it. Their songs are played at weddings, funerals, concerts, and Bohemian Rhapsody is still a crowd favorite at karaoke bars across the world.
The iconic Mercury pose is taken from the band's 1986 Magic Tour, when Mercury wore his famous yellow military jacket for the first time. The jacket became an iconic part of his flamboyant outfits.
The poster is what we call a 'relief' poster - it's 3D, but not entirely 3D. Designed to be wall-mounted, it measures 40 cm in width and 65 cm in height.
