The Who fire drummer Zak Starkey again
Briefly

The Who has once again parted ways with drummer Zak Starkey, revealing a contentious split just weeks after reinstatement. Guitarist Pete Townshend announced the change on Instagram, wishing Starkey well in his future projects. However, Starkey painted a different picture, alleging he was fired and pressured to release a false statement about quitting the band. Starkey, the longest-serving drummer for The Who since 1996, expressed pride in his tenure and remained loyal to the band's legacy. The split comes as The Who prepares for their farewell tour.
After many years of great work on drums from Zak the time has come for a change. A poignant time. Zak has lots of new projects in hand and I wish him the best.
I was fired two weeks after reinstatement and asked to make a statement saying I had quit The Who to pursue my other musical endeavors this would be a lie.
I'm very proud of my near thirty years with The Who. Filling the shoes of my Godfather, 'uncle Keith [Moon]' has been the biggest honor and I remain their biggest fan.
