The Darkness released their theme song titled “Masters of the Universe” for the upcoming Masters of the Universe film, based on the '80s animated TV series. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5. The song is a retro rocker that echoes the bombastic '80s style associated with Queen’s “Flash Gordon” theme. The release follows the earlier single “Eternia,” which features Brian May. The band described creating the track with a playful “Castle Darkness” message, saying they assembled and bellowed “WE HAVE THE POWER.” The song was produced by Daniel Hawkins and Daniel Pemberton. The band also has major live appearances planned, including Iron Maiden’s Knebworth show on July 11 and UK dates in December.
