"The charge against Majed alleges that he communicated to a police officer and others information, which he knew or believed to be false, that a bomb was present in the arena."
"District Judge Smith also refused a bail application, stating, 'Based on everything I have read and have heard I am satisfied that the case should be dealt with in the Crown Court.'"
Omar Majed, 19, has been remanded in custody after allegedly causing a bomb hoax at a Peter Kay comedy show in Birmingham. He reportedly entered the Utilita Arena without a ticket and suggested to police that a bomb was present. The incident forced the evacuation of thousands of fans. Majed did not enter a plea during the court hearing, and his case will be transferred to Birmingham Crown Court on June 1. Bail was denied by the District Judge due to the seriousness of the charge.
