The RAC has issued a warning about heavy traffic during the upcoming Easter weekend, particularly due to the coincidence with the end of school holidays. An estimated 19 million leisure trips are expected between Thursday and Easter Monday, and traffic jams are anticipated especially on major routes like the M25 and M6. The RAC advises drivers to plan their travel times wisely to avoid congestion, which is expected to be particularly severe on Thursday, Good Friday, and Saturday.
Alice Simpson, a spokesperson for the RAC, highlighted that the overlap of the bank holiday and school holidays is likely to increase road congestion significantly this Easter weekend.
Transport analytics firm Inrix predicts that drivers can expect delays of over an hour on the M25, especially on Thursday as holiday travel peaks.
