Loyle Carner on his transition into acting: 'I was just really nervous'
"I was just really nervous, you know? I was pretty scared. I remember at the start I said to [Regan], 'I should do prep, actors do prep, I don't know what prep is. What should I do?' She said, 'Honestly, just how you feel now, how nervous you are and how everything is new and exciting to you - just hold onto that because it's rare.'"
"It felt weird to be a true rookie at something after spending most of my life developing my music career, being 31 and coming into something brand new."
Ben Loyle-Carner, known as Loyle Carner, is making his acting debut in the BBC One crime drama series 'Mint'. He plays Arran, a character involved in a complex relationship with Shannon, a daughter of a Scottish crime family. Coyle-Larner expressed his nerves about acting after 12 years in music, recalling advice from director Charlotte Regan to channel his anxiety into excitement. He acknowledged the challenge of starting anew at 31 after a successful music career, having previously attended the Brit School for Performing Arts.
