Gilla Band returned with the self-produced single “Giraffe,” their first new music in nearly four years. The track keeps their noisy, abrasive sound, with hints of dance music emerging through feedback haze and shouted vocals. Frontman Dara Kiely described the song as a look into his thought process, centered on feeling scattered, lonely, and unable to articulate what he is thinking. The outro offers indirect confirmation that affection exists, though he still struggles to believe it. A limited edition picture disc 7" single is available. The band also announced an extensive fall tour, including a stop at Elsewhere Hall in Brooklyn on October 15, with tickets going on sale May 29 at 10 AM local time.
"Gilla Band (fka Girl Band) are back with a new single and a tour announcement. Self-produced, "Giraffe" is their first new music in nearly four years and finds them still in noisy, abrasive form, with little hints of dance music hiding amongst the feedback haze and shouted vocals."
"Frontman Dara Kiely says the song is a look into his thought process. "It can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to articulate what I'm actually thinking. The song's outro indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection toward me does exist. While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe.""
"Meanwhile, Gilla Band have announced an extensive fall tour that hits Brooklyn's Elsewhere Hall on October 15. Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, May 29 at 10 AM local time. All dates are below."
