Gilla Band returned with their first music in three years, releasing the single “Giraffe” alongside an animated music video. The new release is paired with an expansive set of tour dates extending through 2027, with stops across the United States and Europe. The band’s lineup includes Dara Kiely, Alan Duggan Borges, Daniel Fox, and Adam Faulkner. After touring their 2022 album Most Normal, they stayed relatively quiet, sharing only the one-off single “Sports Day” in 2023. Kiely described “Giraffe” as reflecting a scattered, lonely headspace, feelings of not being loved, and an outro that confirms affection exists while still feeling hard to believe.
"In a statement about the making of “Giraffe,” Kiely said his head “can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to articulate what I'm actually thinking. The song's outro indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection toward me does exist. While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe.”"
