Cynthia Erivo, renowned for her breakout role in 'The Colour Purple', is set to return to the London stage after years in Hollywood. Her next project is an ambitious one-woman show of Bram Stokerâs 'Dracula', where she'll portray 26 characters, including both leads, Jonathan Harker and Count Dracula. Directed by Kip Williams, the show aims to innovate with a fresh take on classic horror. Erivo describes her return to the stage as a long-awaited homecoming, offering a rich exploration of complex characters and myth.
Returning to the stage feels like a homecoming, one that I've been craving for a long time. To do so with a story as rich, complex, and haunting as DRACULA offers a beautiful opportunity to delve into character, into myth, and into the heart of what makes us human.
It scored great reviews domestically and should be a proper showcase for Erivo, who'll take on every role from Jonathan Harker to the Count himself.
