"Claypool Gold Tour" to Kick Off Feat. Primus, Claypool Lennon Delirium, Frog Brigade
Les Claypool will perform triple-duty on the “Claypool Gold Tour,” featuring Primus, Claypool Lennon Delirium, and Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. The 30-date run begins May 20 in Reno, Nevada, and continues through July 4 in Napa, California, with stops including Cleveland, Chicago, Boston, Austin, and Phoenix. A press release promises a “mind-melting musical experience,” with all bands sharing the stage simultaneously each night for fluid shows, wildly different setlists, and unexpected collaborations. The tour’s format resembles Maynard James Keenan’s “Sessanta Tour,” where Primus appeared alongside Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. Primus includes Larry “Ler” LaLonde and drummer John “Hoffer” Hoffman, while Claypool Lennon Delirium pairs Claypool with Sean Ono Lennon. Fearless Flying Frog Brigade features a rotating lineup most recently including Claypool, Lennon, Harry Waters, Paulo Baldi, Mike Dillon, and Skerik.
"Each night, all the bands will share the stage simultaneously for a fluid show featuring wildly different setlists and unexpected collaborations."
"The 30-date outing kicks off this Wednesday, May 20th, in Reno, Nevada, and runs through a July 4th show in Napa, California, hitting such cities as Cleveland, Chicago, Boston, Austin, and Phoenix, among others, with tickets available here."
"Primus is Claypool's "main" band featuring longtime guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde and new drummer John "Hoffer" Hoffman. The Claypool Lennon Delirium is the singer-bassist's project with Sean Ono Lennon, and the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade features a rotating cast of musicians that most recently included Claypool, Lennon, keyboardist Harry Waters, drummer Paulo Baldi, percussionist Mike Dillon, and saxophonist Skerik."
"It's likely that Claypool took inspiration from Maynard James Keenan's "Sessanta Tour," which saw Primus on a bill with MJK's two bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, and also featured all three acts sharing the stage at various times throughout the set."
