The Broadway Theatre in Barking has announced the cancellation of all future performances, continuing its closure that began in January 2024 due to the discovery of crumbling concrete. Initially, the theatre aimed to reschedule shows but has now confirmed that it will remain shuttered indefinitely. The venue's management expressed regret in a Facebook statement, thanking patrons for their support during this difficult time. Efforts to address the building’s RAAC issues have yet to commence, leaving uncertainty about the future reopening, which might be targeted for 2025.
It is with regret that we must announce the cancellation of all future performances and events at The Broadway, Barking due to the venue's ongoing closure.
We will contact any remaining ticket holders to arrange refunds. We thank you for your continued support of The Broadway during this challenging period.
Previously hoped it would be back open this year, saying in its December update that 'we can't wait to raise our curtain and welcome you back in 2025'.
The venue had been unable to commence remedial work to remove the RAAC in the building up until September last year.
