"We are pleased to be starting work on transforming Wandsworth Town station and making it fully accessible as well as open up a second entrance. Our teams will be working throughout 2026 and into the summer of 2027 to build new lifts and create a second entrance to the station whilst keeping the station open and train services operating."
"The project, delivered in partnership with Wandsworth Council, includes the construction of a second entrance at Odyssey Way, with new ticket barriers. This will also improve access from the north of the station and support growing passenger demand, as a lot of housing has been built on that side of the station in recent years."
Wandsworth Town station is undergoing significant infrastructure improvements to enhance accessibility and accommodate growing passenger demand. The project includes installing three new lifts and creating a second entrance at Odyssey Way with new ticket barriers. Preparatory works began with hoardings and ducting installation, followed by a temporary scaffold bridge in April. Lift foundations will be constructed between May and November 2026, with shaft installation in February 2027. The station will remain operational throughout construction, though some platforms and routes will temporarily close during specific periods. The upgrade is expected to complete in summer 2027. The station served over 3.75 million passengers between April 2024 and March 2025, ranking as the 15th busiest on the South Western Railway network.
