The fire erupted just a few hundred meters from Church Street where a Twickenham 60s Day event is taking place with hundreds in attendance.
Parts of the ground and first floors in the building have been damaged by the fire. The fire is now under control, but streets will remain closed as crews remain on scene into the afternoon.
York Street is closed between Arragon Road and the junction with the A310 and A305. A local resident noted that the road has been shut since around mid-morning and traffic has been chaos.
