A fire broke out at High Street Kensington station in west London around 4pm on May 10, involving a railway sleeper. Firefighters quickly contained the small fire by 4:45pm. The incident resulted in the suspension of the Circle line and District line, as well as the Hammersmith & City line between Barking and Liverpool Street. While the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines reopened shortly after, the District line remained suspended eastbound as of 5:15pm, causing severe delays on all affected lines. To manage potential overcrowding, Putney Bridge station was also closed temporarily.
