Tickets Alert: Chatley Heath semaphore tower open weekend
Briefly

The Chatley Heath semaphore tower, an octagonal building on the outskirts of London, will be open to the public on June 7th and 8th, 2025. Originally built as part of Britain's defense system during the Napoleonic Wars, the tower reflects a short-lived communication method before the telegraph was invented. Although it fell into decay after closing in 1847, it was restored and opened as a holiday home in 2021. Visitors can enjoy stunning views from the top and are encouraged to book free tickets in advance, with the option to arrive without a ticket on the day if space allows.
Peeking just above the trees by the M25 on the edge of southwest London is a tall octagonal building built as part of Britain's defence.
This is the Chatley Heath semaphore tower, a rare survivor of a series of towers built to send signals to/from London and the coast.
They open it once or twice a year for the public to visit and enjoy the fantastic views from the top of the tower.
Tickets are free and they recommend booking in advance from here. You can also turn up on the day without a ticket if there's space.
