Prayers are being held at Hindu temples across north-west London after the Air India flight crashed in Ahmedabad, claiming 241 lives with only one survivor. Community leaders, including Sjro Rajrajeshwar from the Palmerston Road Temple, expressed their sorrow and solidarity for the victims, many of whom had connections to the local Gujarati community. Tarun Patel from the Neasden Temple shared the initial disbelief felt by the community and the ongoing impact of the tragedy, highlighting the emotional toll on families and friends, regardless of direct connections to the victims.
Today we are praying for them because it is the only thing we can give to the departed soul,
When we heard it this morning, it was one of disbelief. It took time to really understand what's happening, and when it sunk in, it was very sad, devastating.
The situation is very fluid. That's not to say that members are not affected. I think it's a bit more than just people within this congregation.
