Pepe's Piri Piri is set to open at 182-184 High Street, Hornchurch, after receiving planning permission from Havering Council for two new illuminated shop signs. One sign will be placed above the shopfront, while the other will hang from the side of the building, featuring the restaurant's distinctive red, yellow, and white color scheme. The location was previously a charity shop for Saint Francis Hospice, and the transition to a takeaway was approved earlier this year. The council previously rejected an application for signage due to concerns about visual impact, which were alleviated in the new application.
Havering Council has granted planning permission for Pepe's Piri Piri to install two new illuminated shop signs at 182-184 High Street, Hornchurch. One sign will be across the top of the shopfront, while the other will be a hanging sign projecting from the side of the building.
The site was previously used by a Saint Francis Hospice charity shop, however plans to change its use to a takeaway restaurant were approved in April this year.
A previous application for new signs was refused by the council's planning team in October 2024, due to concerns it could be visually intrusive, especially with a funeral directors and solicitors nearby.
Pepe's Piri Piri already has franchises across the UK, including one in South Street, Romford.
