The London Museum plans to reopen the row of original shops surrounding its Victorian market building. These shops will maintain their historical character and will be available for independent retailers, restaurants, and office spaces for charities and social enterprises. Coffee shops will likely be excluded to avoid competition with the museum's café. The museum, featuring the first train line to run through a museum and newly discovered underground vaults, is anticipated to attract over two million visitors annually when it opens in 2026.
The old meat traders' building was constructed with a market inside and a row of market shops on the outside. With the museum restoring the building, it is now seeking tenants to occupy the reopened shops.
Each of the shops retains their original character and design, with the potential to host independent retailers and restaurants, as well as office space for charities, social enterprises or other organisations.
These street-front spaces offer us an entirely new way to do this and we're excited to work with partners who share our love for London, whether that's music studios, independent retailers, charities, or favourite London brands.
The museum is set to open in 2026 and is expected to attract over two million visitors annually.
