Traveling on the Amtrak Superliner, I discovered a refreshing experience in overnight train travel. Unlike my previous journeys on one-story trains, this double-decker offered excellent views and comfortable accommodations. The new seat cushions made my lower bunk feel like a proper mattress, and the provided blankets and pillows added to the comfort. The dining experience exceeded my expectations, with meals that rivaled budget restaurants, featuring delicious options like strawberry-topped French toast and three-course dinners with premium ingredients. Overall, my trip highlighted significant improvements in train travel comfort and cuisine.
To me, train food beats airplane food any day. But unless you're on a luxury overnight train, I've still found food on the rails mediocre at best.
I snuggled up with a plush blanket and thick, fluffy pillows provided by Amtrak.
