Flyover to partially reopen after more than a year
"From Sunday, traffic will be able to use Straight Road and Main Road in both directions at Gallows Corner in Havering, Transport for London (TfL) confirmed. The flyover will also reopen for eastbound journeys from the A12 Eastern Avenue to the A127 Southend Arterial Road. The flyover will remain closed westbound, and the southbound A12 will continue as a bus-only route."
"TfL said the restrictions were necessary to allow ongoing water works by Essex and Suffolk Water (ESW) to continue safely and to manage traffic in the area. The reopening had been due on 30 April but was delayed by additional works identified late in the project."
"Construction began in March last year to replace the ageing flyover and upgrade the busy roundabout, with an initial completion target of September. No date has yet been given for full reopening. TfL's director of capital delivery, Scott Haxton, said key works had been completed and safety checks carried out ahead of the phased reopening."
"He said: "All significant planned TfL and ESW works at Gallows Corner have been completed and we have been urgently working on a plan to partially reopen parts of the road network.""
