Disability activist stranded on Liverpool Street platform after staff 'refused to get ramp'
Briefly

Anna Landre, a disability activist, faced discrimination at Liverpool Street station when staff denied her assistance due to an alleged perceived rudeness. She describes feeling powerless and victimized after being stranded and emphasizes the injustice of how assertiveness from disabled individuals is often misinterpreted as rudeness. Despite notifying Network Rail, whom later apologized for her experience, the incident underscores systemic issues about the treatment of disabled passengers and highlights the need for improved training in accessibility and respect for all users.
I do not believe I was rude; I believe this able-bodied man did not enjoy a young disabled woman speaking assertively back to him in the same tone.
The fact is, disabled people reacting with anything other than gratefulness and deference for being granted basic human dignity is often perceived as rudeness.
Our director for the Anglia region… spoke with Ms Landre this morning and personally apologised for her experience.
I have asked for any body cam footage of the interaction and to know exactly which words I said resulted in a denial of service.
