Transport for London (TfL) is set to withdraw sections of bus services 30 and 205 in central London beginning June 21, following public consultation feedback. The changes are part of efforts to increase efficiency as passenger numbers remain below pre-pandemic levels. The restructuring will require passengers to transfer buses for certain journeys. Despite increasing use since 2021, routes 30 and 205 are still significantly down from typical pre-pandemic ridership, leading TfL to adjust services to reflect current demand.
TfL has confirmed it will be restructuring sections of bus routes 30 and 205 in central London, effective June 21, due to ongoing passenger number challenges.
Geoff Hobbs emphasized that TfL is committed to monitoring the network to ensure a comprehensive public transport offering that remains value for money.
Although passenger numbers for routes 30 and 205 have increased since 2021, they still lag 25% and 15% behind pre-pandemic levels respectively on a typical week.
The public consultation revealed significant opposition to the changes, highlighted by the fact that of 1,359 responses, the majority were against the proposed restructuring.
