The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is seeking to restore a historic Clements Talbot ambulance from World War Two, used during the Blitz. This unique vehicle, a wooden and steel model, has been lovingly maintained but is currently non-operational. LAS aims to raise £2,000 to replace its aging fuel and electrical components with help from volunteers at the Talbot Owners' Club. Once restored, the ambulance will tour and showcase its original medical supplies, helping to educate the public about wartime history. It's being featured in commemorative events, starting with the VE Day 80th anniversary this weekend.
The London Ambulance Service has launched a fundraising appeal to restore its only remaining World War Two ambulance, aiming to make it roadworthy for public tours.
The historic Clements Talbot ambulance, having served through the Blitz, requires specialist work to restore its fuel and electrical systems, an effort estimated at £2,000.
