As summer approaches in London, open-air pools, or lidos, become essential. This year, Royal Docks introduces Summer Splash, a month-long temporary lido serving the community from July 25 to August 17, aimed particularly at those without private outdoor access. The unheated pool will offer not just swimming, but sandpits, children's lessons, music events, and a sauna. This initiative is part of a broader water-themed program, At The Docks, which includes various water sports and events that enhance community engagement and culture.
The Royal Docks is launching a temporary lido, Summer Splash, designed to create a safe outdoor water space for local communities and particularly for those without private gardens.
Besides the pool, there’ll be sandpits, deckchairs, lessons for kids, a DJs series, and a wood-fired sauna, making it a quasi beach club experience.
Justine Simons, deputy mayor, expressed her delight at the return of At The Docks season, highlighting its importance for creativity and youth engagement.
The Summer Splash lido is part of a larger water-focused program, including events like wakeboarding, paddle boarding, and a circus showcase to elevate local culture.
