London Iron Works will start constructing a new Travelodge in Upminster this summer, following a series of compliance and technical preparations. Originally rejected in January 2023, the plans gained approval in 2024. The hotel will feature 82 rooms along with retail units on the ground floor, and aims to enhance the local visitor economy. A 25-year lease has been settled between Travelodge and London Iron Works, indicating a long-term commitment to the development which is expected to be completed by early 2026.
The development is progressing well and we hope that the hotel will open in early 2026.
