This north London leisure centre has reopened after a huge 2 million glow-up
"'We know how important Edmonton Leisure Centre is to the health, wellbeing and social life of local people, so we are delighted that this major renovation project is now complete with the reopening of the training pool. We have invested not only in this facility but also the health and wellbeing of the local community, who now have a leisure centre they can be really proud of.'"
"The training pool itself is designed specifically for beginners and offers a 'warm, shallow environment for building water confidence, helping babies, children and adults to take their first steps in swimming'."
Edmonton Leisure Centre in Enfield fully reopened after a two-year closure for refurbishment. The centre closed in December 2023 following a management transfer that revealed significant maintenance issues requiring extensive repairs. A total of £7.5 million was invested to update the 25-metre swimming pool, the training pool, splash pool and surrounding areas. Non-swimming facilities reopened earlier in April. The training pool was refurbished with new tiles, LED lighting and a warm, shallow design to build water confidence for babies, children and adults. A launch event on December 2 featured Olympic swimmer Kieran Bird. The project aims to boost local health and wellbeing.
