TfL just got one step closer to regulating loud and overpriced pedicabs
Briefly

In response to public concerns, Transport for London (TfL) is moving to regulate pedicabs, the only unregulated transport mode in the city. With overwhelming public support from a recent consultation, which included over 7,600 responses, proposals include requiring drivers to have appropriate insurance, pass criminal background checks, obtain a one-year license, and adhere to safety standards. This initiative aims to reduce unsafe behaviors and exorbitant fees, ensuring a safer experience for passengers. Further consultations will involve those in the pedicab industry later this year.
Pedicabs should be a fun and sustainable way to explore what our city has to offer, but without regulation some drivers are behaving unsafely or anti-socially.
TfL's proposed restrictions included drivers needing appropriate insurance, having to demonstrate that they understand their role and responsibilities, requiring a one-year pedicab driver's license.
