Stephen Lawrence killer David Norris clashed with Manchester Arena bomber in prison
"He said it was the 'Manchester bomber' and they 'all took umbrage with him'. He said he called the prisoner a terrorist and swore at him, but had not used a racial slur. He said it had been an offense based response, not a racial issue."
"Mr Norris said he had been raising money for the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing at the time. He accepted it was 'not his place to be dishing out justice' but he was stressed and 'terrorism has always riled me, going back to the IRA'."
David Norris, one of Stephen Lawrence's killers, confronted Hashem Abedi in Belmarsh Prison and called him a terrorist during a heated row. Norris, jailed in 2012 for at least 14 years for the racially motivated murder of 18-year-old Stephen Lawrence in 1993, admitted shouting at Abedi but denied using a racial slur. He described the incident as an offence-based response and said he had been raising money for victims of the Manchester Arena bombing at the time. Parole was refused because he remains a danger amid concerns about his racism and allegations of violence. Abedi, jailed for life with a minimum of 55 years for the 2017 Manchester attack, was transferred after an attack on a guard and faces a 2026 trial over an alleged attempted murder of three prison officers.
