Emma Raducanu faced Amanda Anisimova in the Canadian Open third round, losing 6-2 6-1. Raducanu only held serve twice and made 22 unforced errors, while Anisimova hit 29 winners. Anisimova has been in strong form with 14 wins in her last 17 matches. In other matches, Naomi Osaka defeated Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-4 and will play Anastasia Sevastova, who recently upset Jessica Pegula. Pegula had been on an 11-match winning streak before her loss to Sevastova due to errors in the deciding set.

Osaka registered a dominant 6-2 6-4 win over 22nd seed Jelena Ostapenko.
Sevastova has now registered her first win over a top-five opponent since 2017.
Pegula was on an 11-match winning run in Montreal but an error-strewn deciding set cost her against world number 386 Sevastova.
