Princess Diana hated London, honeymoon letter reveals
A letter written by Diana, Princess of Wales from Balmoral Castle shortly after her 1981 wedding describes a honeymoon cruise on the Royal Yacht Britannia with “endless sun” and “calm seas.” She says she is enjoying Scotland until the end of October and calls it a “big treat,” adding that she adores being outside all day and hates London. She also comments on being married, describing it as wonderful and “safe to say” after two months. She notes adjusting to royal life by “playing with grown ups.” The letter is dated Sept 27 and is part of a collection from her school friend Katherine, including school photos, to be auctioned in July with an estimated value of £4,000 to £6,000.
