The Ordnance Survey has developed a Minecraft representation of the UK, featuring over 100 billion blocks that accurately depict the geography of the nation. Inspired by the Minecraft movie, this initiative aims to engage both younger generations and avid gamers by making mapping interactive and fun. The first release includes 16 specific areas for optimized gameplay. This build continues from their previous record-setting project in 2014, showcasing significant advancements in both quality and resource utilization.
The latest version is a natural advancement in quality and size as more resources became available for this work, which means we can deliver an even more realistic Minecraft experience for users.
This cubist version of the British Isles is estimated to be made up of more than 100 billion blocks, and contains features such as motorways, lakes, and railways.
