After a six-year hiatus, Blackheath Fireworks will return for Bonfire Night on Saturday, November 1, 2025, running from 4pm to 10.30pm. Lewisham Council has partnered with Slammin Events, the team behind the Alexandra Palace fireworks festival, to stage the event. The 2025 edition will charge an entry fee, with the Blackheath Society estimating roughly £15 for over-16s and £5–£10 for children. Slammin Events has applied for a premises licence for a one-day weekend event between late October and mid-November, requesting capacity for up to 29,999 people. The licence application will be considered by the council's licensing sub-committee on August 27. Council representatives emphasized resident access and partnership.
The huge fireworks display, once heralded as 'London's biggest free fireworks display', was first called off by Lewisham Council in 2019 because of a lack of funding. Enough money was raised the next year for it to go ahead, but those plans were soon scuppered by the pandemic. The event has been on hiatus ever since due to financial pressures.
But no more! The council has now partnered with Slammin Events (the company behind the immense fireworks festival at Ally Pally) to finally bring the Bonfire Night celebration back. The council has confirmed that this year's event will take place on Saturday, November 1 from 4pm to 10.30pm. While it has been free to attend in previous years, the 2025 edition will come with an entry fee.
