The Chelsea gallery Kasmin will close this autumn, transitioning to a new gallery named Olney Gleason, led by Nick Olney and Eric Gleason. This move follows discussions held with the late founder Paul Kasmin. Olney Gleason aims to continue representing select artists and estates from Kasmin's roster. Kasmin, influential in the art scene, held over 350 exhibitions and represented many artists during its 35-year tenure. The new gallery plans to launch its flagship space and inaugural show in the fall.
"We had those conversations while Paul was still alive. What we're doing now aligns with those early discussions, and the estate is fully supportive."
During its 35 years in operation, the gallery he founded staged more than 350 exhibitions and represented over 100 artists.
Kasmin is remembered for growing the market for François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne in the US and for taking over Lee Krasner's estate in 2016.
Olney Gleason will establish a flagship space in Chelsea and stage an inaugural show this autumn.
