A person was captured on CCTV smearing a substance on the exterior of two synagogues and along a passageway used by worshippers in Golders Green, north London. The incidents occurred on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and the substance has been reported as faeces. The Metropolitan Police are investigating the incidents as religiously motivated criminal damage. Local neighbourhood watch volunteers, Shomrim, gathered CCTV images and handed them to police. Shomrim described the attacks as deliberate, disgraceful and anti‑Semitic and urged that those responsible be caught and brought to justice. Community safety and hate‑crime concerns have risen.
