Inspiration for art comes from various sources such as books, films, photojournalism, and daily life observations. Notably, settings like Highgate Cemetery offer excellent subjects and compositions for sketching. A simple view of graves against dark, vine-covered trees serves as the focus for a contrast drawing. The drawing process is divided into three stages: drawing, inking, and shading, although this particular piece will be monochrome. Artists are encouraged to consider various drawing tablets and digital art software for their projects.
Great compositions and subjects are everywhere, not to mention the moods and light that the weather and seasons bring!
When I do a study on paper, I tend to split the work into three stages: drawing, inking and colouring.
This works just as well for digital mediums but since this image is to be black and white, I won't be using any colour.
One of my favourite places for sketching is Highgate Cemetery in London. No matter where you turn you see something that wants to be drawn.
